Membership is open to all people over the age of 18
Dragon boating is a team-paddling sport on water. Think Hawaii-Five-O! The normal crew is 22; 20 paddlers in pairs facing the bow of the boat, 1 helm steering and 1 drummer at the bow facing the paddlers. Paddlers follow the beat of the drum.
Yes. Evidence has shown that exercise after breast cancer is not only safe but beneficial. The specific movement of paddling a dragon boat could play an important part in preventing and/or improving lymphoedema, a chronic swelling of tissues that can occur due to breast surgery and/or radiation. Please consult your doctor before resuming exercise after surgery and/or treatment.
No. Although the group was set up to help Breast Cancer Survivors anyone can join.
Wear something comfortable, tracksuit and runners if possible. Life Jackets will be provided for non members.
Yes. You don’t need to be able to swim, lift jackets will be provided for non members.
No. Everything will be explained to you before getting on a Dragon Boat
Membership for the year is €50
We train twice a week – Sunday Morning and Tuesday Evening
Training takes place on the River Lee, in Corks City Centre from April to October.
